Project Pride

“Your family must be rich, your clothes are beautiful”.  This was the quote of a classmate to one of our clients.  Her mother turned to Christmas Charities for help to keep her children clothed for the school year.

We fully believe that quality clothes boosts children’s self esteem and encourages them to stay in school.  Our Project Pride Program runs 10 months of the year, beginning the school year with our “Look Sharp – Feel Smart” campaign.  With quality new and “gently used” clothes & shoes, children can begin the school year feeling like every one else who went school clothes shopping, regardless of their family financial situation.  The children who take part in Project Pride take a lot of “pride” in their appearance.

We keep the clothing assistance process as simple as possible.  Appointments are set with clients so they can come to look for clothes and shoes.  We have two rooms (one for each gender) stocked in a store-like setting.  Clients are allowed to select clothing and try on the garments in a private dressing room.  Clients are free to choose a reasonable amount of garments to satisfy their needs for school, work, church, etc.  The average client takes about two weeks worth of outfits. Children are allowed to come three times a year and adults are allowed to come twice a year.

All the clothing is given away free of charge.  You Give. We Give.
