Award-winning journalist takes on new mission.

    Violet Edwards, formerly of WAAY 31, takes on her new role as Executive
    Director of Christmas Charities Year Round (CCYR) on May 5th.

    Violet has a long history of volunteering with non-profits. She's been an
    avid supporter of CCYR, the Girl Scouts, and the foreign exchange
    program, Council on International Educational Exchange. As a CCYR
    volunteer, she has been instrumental in helping with fund-raising,
    marketing, long-range planning.

    Violet looks to draw on her networking and research experience in
    journalism as she tackles the challenges of a non-profit.  She has worked
    at television and radio stations in Tuscaloosa (WTUG), Memphis (WREG),
    Birmingham (WREG), Jonesboro, Arkansas (KAIT) and Huntsville
    (WAAY). Her career has netted her awards from the Alabama Associated
    Press (2006), the Arkansas Associated Press (2000), and she was
    WAAY 31 Employee of the Year 2007.
